Convert a CSV from semicolon to comma

CSV files saved by Excel in many European and Latin American settings use semicolons. Databases, web tools and importers often expect commas. CSVFix converts the file safely.

Open CSVFix

How to do it

  1. Drop your CSV file on the page.
  2. Check that the summary says a semicolon delimiter was detected, or set Input delimiter to Semicolon.
  3. Set Output delimiter to Comma.
  4. Click Download CSV.

Why it happens

Where the comma is the decimal mark, Excel separates values with semicolons to avoid confusion. Programs that expect commas then read each row as a single value. CSVFix converts the delimiter only. Decimal commas such as 3,5 are kept as they are and will be quoted in the result, so check them if the receiving system expects decimal points.

Questions

Will decimal commas break the file?

They stay inside quotes, so the columns remain correct. The receiving program may still read 3,5 as text.

Does it work with tab or pipe files?

Yes. Any supported delimiter can be converted to any other.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
